AIMS engineers have focused on two major applications in medical imaging. The first of these is improved algorithms for high-resolution Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT). EIT is a new method for medical imaging and non-destructive testing based on the differences in the internal electrical conductivity of tissue or other matter. The second is the application of new image compression and transmission algorithms for teleradiology.
